a. Below Knees

Initial Position: Child lies prone, perpendicular to your chest, head away from you and feet towards you, feet off the end of the table

Movement: Hold the right leg below the knee and bend the child’s right hip and knee up under the child and place the right foot flat on the table. Repeat with the left leg so that the child is in a squatting position. Move the child slightly back over the feet. Give a slight forwards and upwards pressure with your hands and wait 10 seconds.

b. By Ankles

Initial Position: Child lies prone, perpendicular to your chest, head away from you and feet towards you, feet off the end of the table.

Movement: Hold the right ankle and bend the child’s right hip and knee up under the child and place the right foot flat on the table. Repeat with the left leg so that the child is in a squatting position. Move the child slightly back over the feet. Give a slight forwards and upwards pressure with your hands and wait 10 seconds.

Outcomes: Standing transition, leg extension, trunk extension, trunk control
