DMI – Prone to Stand by Abdomen and Ankles

Initial Position: Child prone, parallel to your chest, head to your
right* and feet toward your left, at the edge of the table or on the floor. Have someone stand behind the child in case of backwards collapse.

Movement: Lift the child’s legs up to 45 degrees and next,
simultaneously lij the child’s abdomen with your right hand to 45 degrees while you lower the child’s feet down to the surface, resting on his toes. When done properly, the child will be in a
“downward dog” yoga position while resting on tiptoes. Next, using your hand, push upwards and back to a 45 degree angle to provoke child to extend into an upright standing posture.

Outcomes: verticality, trunk extension, trunk control, leg extension
