DMI – Standing Through Half Kneeling by Forearms and Ankle

Initial Position: Child lies prone, perpendicular to your chest, head away from you and feet towards you, feet off the end of the table.

Movement: Lift child’s forearms forwards and upwards to provoke extension into tall kneeling. Holding the child’s right ankle, bend the hip and knee and place the foot down flat in front of the child on the table into half kneel position. Give a slight forwards and upwards pressure with your left hand and wait.

Outcomes: standing transition, hip flexion, leg swing, weight-bearing through feet, hip strengthening
