DMI – Tilt on Lap by Pelvis

Initial Position: Therapist sits on the edge of a chair. Child is sitting at the end of your knee, preferably on the side of your dominant hand.

Movement: You will now be tilting the child 45 degrees in each direction, as described below. During each tilt, if the child attempts to return to an upright, neutral sitting position, either by initiating with their head, or by side bending their trunk, move with the child and allow it. Move your thigh slightly to the left while tilting the child 45 degrees to your right. Hold for 10 counts. Move your thigh slightly to the right while tilting the child 45 degrees to your left. Hold for 10 counts. Slide your heel forward on the floor, creating a downward incline so that the child is tilting 45 degrees forward. Hold for 10 counts. Slide your heel back to the starting position Finally, place your foot up on a 6″ box and tilt the child backward. Hold for 10 counts.
